Daycare fit for a Papillon puppy - AKA Bravo has started daycare!!

OK......I have had a super busy week (haven't been on here much this week )

Poor Bravo is growing and getting more and more active...and I had to work SO much this week.

My solution??? Doggy DayCare!! The Lodge It's a bit pricey ($25/day) but it's awesome!!! Well worth the money!!!

I get cell phone alerts that tell me what he's doing (if I want them, which I did!), I can watch live videos of him whenever I want - on my cell or on my computer!

He is with 6 other puppies...similar size/age...and a few puppy-tolerant youngsters - one who Bravo LOVED (****zu) named Tuxedo.

And I got a report card for him at the end of today, LOL!! Of course he was a hit!

I dropped him off at 7:00am (stayed to watch him for a while) and picked him up at 5:30. He spends two hours playing in one yard, an hour of kennel/sleep time, another couple of hours in a 2nd yard (with a shallow doggy swimming pool), another kennel/rest period, and then the rest of the time in they puppy play yard until I picked him up.

It was the greatest thing ever!! I will probably take him on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays through the end of February....once he is 6 mos old, he can't continue in daycare as he will not be neutered until he finishes his championship.

Here are a couple of pictures taken after I got him home tonight...

    His report card -

.......and he has now fallen asleep!!!

Hey Avec, is Bravo still going to daycare? I've been considering having Gizmo go a few times a week when we work longer days (plus our daily commute takes 40 min one way!) but I'm still kind of hesitant. He had a run in with some fleas over Christmas and I really don't want to do that all over and I'm afraid he could bring some home! But I know he would love playing with other puppies all day...

Yes, he is. :-) He typically goes three times a week - and for the same reasons you describe. My hubby and I both work long hours, and we didn't want to leave such a young dog home alone for hours on end - at a time when his mind and body want to be in motion!

It has been a fabulous solution for us....great for him, and I have no guilt. :-)

    I hope this helps!

As for fleas...Bravo is on Trifexus, so fleas are a non-issue. Most dogs here in Florida are on both a heart worm and flea preventative - we get over-run by fleas pretty quickly here!

One more thing -'we treat the inside of our home with Boric Acid once each year....this works 100% of the time. No flea infestation. Ever. And we also have four cats.

I'm glad to hear that daycare is a hit! Arkansas also seems to be a virtual playground for fleas and mosquitoes so Gizmo is also on Trifexus, but it didn't stop the fleas from biting him (at least once). He about scratched himself raw from the few bites he got! I haven't heard of the Boric Acid. I'll do some research on that. Gizmo is our only pet, but he "contracted" the fleas from my sister's dog that is not treated for fleas as religiously as Gizmo is. Just after seeing his reaction to the bites makes me reluctant to put him in that situation again... I'm hoping the ppl who pay the money for daycare also pay the money for flea preventatives. I guess we'll give it a go and see what happens!

I bet you're right - people who spend money on daycare are probably paying for flea trtmnts as well :-)

Keep me posted - I'm interested in how much Gizmo is going to love going!
